Cleaning pre silencer box properly

2017 MS 950 owner of a 2017 model and pleased to say after 7000 miles have had no issues. One minor annoyance I have had since picking the bike up when new was that the presilencer box underneath has always looked tarnished and grubby, even when it was brand new. I have tried cleaning with metal polish etc but it still looks tarnished which is a shame as the bike is immaculate. This is a minor issue but just wondered if anyone has any tips on how to give it a good clean /polish as all my attempts have had average results.

Yes - Harpic Power 10 Max bleach, in a black bottle - works a treat!

Thanks for that- and here’s me trying all kinds of metal polish etc.
Was yours the same? I was kind of disappointed in it being like that on a brand new bike, especially a Ducati which, if like me, getting a new one was a pretty special occasion. Thanks for the tip though.

Hi Gogsyboy - yes it was the same as the above photos, until power x10 plus a nylon scouring pad - doesn't take long or it didn't for me.  Remember to wash off any excess bleach and use the 'ol rubber........gloves!  I then finished mine with Autosol as although clean and rust free, the scrubbed bleach finish is a little dull.  Very satisfying session of elbow grease!  Good advise from Wassers too - just re-cleaned that area and used ACF50 to help protect against the winter onslaught...I also found that although the pipe has since discoloured (blue), it hasn't corroded again, so far, so I have only done the "bleach treat" once.  Get 'dem gloves on....

Think you may have inspired me to do mine Ducati_Al, although on second thoughts I am planning to change to a 950s in March.... so perhaps, maybe I shouldn't bother!
