Will be awesome - but rumours are the cost could be nudging 20k  :012:

I'll be sticking with my 950S, which is the sweet spot IMO  :169:

At perhaps 200 bhp for the V4 I think I will just continue with the 950 also and bimble around at 120mph

If you look closer you will see it has a swing arm both sides, no rear splash guard & how far the rear number plate sticks out from the rear light

Also everything could change in the production model

From the pictures I could see a lot of cables connected to that top-box, I believe is some kind of monitoring device for the testing bike....

Price aside, other than the extra horsepower I don't see any benefits on going for a V4. Likely significantly heavier, likely higher maintenance costs..... yes more power, but doesn't the Multi already offer plenty of it? More than 90% of the riders can handle? I downgraded from the 1200 to the 950 exactly for that reason, didn't need all those 160hp. Even more experienced riders (a lot more) in my group with 1260's that use the iphone app to monitor our rides hardly use more than 100-110hp, and we average 100-110mph most of the time on the road. One drag acceleration here and there, where obviously I fall behind but not by that much, and still they don't get to use all the available power.

Not sure how this engine will behave, but if similar to a normal 4-cylinder where power and torque come at high rpm's (>8000) I don't see how it will be a good fit to the Multi.

I'm sure it'll be great fun to take one for a spin sometime, but it's of no practical interest to me either.

Hopefully the styling will be less 'adventure' as that won't make any sense at all otherwise.

I do like the idea of having a second, more sporty, bike but for now that could be anything from a V2 to a BMW s1000R or even an R nine T!  :001:
Or ... I'll go for an older Ducati like a Monster 900 and get it done up by a local independent Ducati specialist.

Here you've hit the nail on the head, the Nine T is to me probably one of the best looking motorcycles ever built. If by any miracle a 2nd bike doesn't mean a divorce, a silver Nine T with brown seat would be my purchase!

Yeah, I have a bit of a soft spot for the boxer. Of the three 1200GSes that I had, my favourite was one of the last air cooled models with proper cable throttle. Same engine that the R nine T now uses. I didn't really 'bond' with the water cooled bike even if it was faster and had more electrickery etc. (Hated the clutch too, but that's another story.)

I had no interest in the V4 but now they are using a double sided swing arm and 19" front wheel with narrow tyres it makes me wonder which direction they're going with it. The V4 engine is quite light and with the aluminium frame spars coupled with using the engine as a stressed member there is talk it could be lighter than the 950. If they are sensible and tune the engine for torque rather than HP it could get interesting.
