Clutch needs adjusting

Hi All.
Had a fantastic long ride out down to the coast today with a few friends.
One thing I've started to notice is neutral is impossible to find and even getting into first can take a few goes.
I'm 90% sure my clutch needs adjusting.
Obviously there's an adjuster on the handle bar .. but which way do I need to rotate it to pull the clutch in more?
Sorry if this is obvious - I'm just not that clued up on some of the basics.

Ian_H    - yep that is almost certain what it will be . I have 10k miles on the clock and have regularly had to adjust at the handlebar adjuster. As someone once noted on this forum- "the clutch adjuster is your friend"

You need to be seeing a few more threads after adjusting - anyway it moves in clicks so just remember which direction you move it and by how many clicks in case you need to reverse it . From memory I think it only requires a few clicks each time

So I've got after market levers on my bike...
They have an adjuster on the levers to increase or decrease the lever distance - which are on max at the moment.
They are the the furthest away from the bar that they can be, but I need more "pull" or the lever needs to be out even further.
Can I use the "screw" by the lever to increase the distance more?

Sorry not much idea on that one - but just to say I also have aftermarket adjustable levers and tried them in several settings but it was still the handlebar adjuster that was the solution to getting neutral/1st gear selection sorted

Me & Ian had a little meet up today & during our little post ride chat we found out what the issue was......all but 1 strand of the clutch inner cable had snapped, so the bike thought that the clutch was always partly out.
If I had a second brain cell it would be so lonely......

I managed to get home 17 miles clutch-less and without stopping.
Pretty relieved I made it.
Now just need to get cable replaced..

Wow  - not good - how many miles has the bike completed ?
Looks like it is only a 30 cable required so not a huge bill - I would be interested to hear how you get on with replacing it

I've been told this sort of wear is unusual. It's got 15k miles.

BUT I have changed the levers for aftermarket ones - so I'm now presuming my efforts managed to screw something up!
I must learn to leave it to the pros, so many times my DIY efforts have lead to things going wrong!

Honestly, I cant believe that you could screw up a cable that much in a lever swap........unless you were over-zealous with the wire cutters somewhere along the line. That cable must have been faulty from new. Mine has done over 40000 miles and still has 7 strands attached  :005:
