Greetings from a new owner
« on: June 11, 2017, 05:11:48 PM »
Greetings to all on the Forum, I picked up my MTS950 3 weeks ago from Riders of Bristol its red (with the Touring pack)
I wasnt going to change bikes until next year and was juggling the usual dilema of a wallet, head or heart between theTracer 900, GS1200 or MTS950 but went on one of the Ducati roadshow test rides and heart easily won and I ordered on the spot !

I thought my Versys was a cracking little all-rounder and you could really throw it into the twisties but having spent a day recently on the MTS around the Brecon Beacons (South Wales) I think the MTS is magic, it virtually points itself into the corners, is solid and has the legs for cruising that the Versys lacked

The only disappointing thing was the fact that my nearest Ducati dealer is 45 miles away which is a pain and then they couldnt fit it in for a first service until early August so I am having to ration my mileage for a while

I was concerned at first about not being able to select neutral at any time with the engine running and saw a lot of comments about this on MTS forums (including one today). With a few miles on the clock I can now find it about 25% of the time so have the confidence that it will sort itself out in time

I fitted a Denali mini Soundbomb as a result of a recommendation on this Forum   - not that one uses a horn very often but its low cost and a simple fit

Ducati tank guards, Running lights and high level GPS holder to be fitted at the 600 mile service

Got a trip to Spain and Portugal booked for September so ticking off the days

Ps great to see Dovi win again today in the Moto GP

I was looking at the same 3 bikes.

My wife vetoed anything >1000cc, so that ruled out the GS1200.

The price of the Tracer has jumped up this year in U.K. with exchange rates, so it isn't quite as much of a bargain.

The Ducati has far nicer parts than the Tracer e.g. Brembo brakes, Pirelli tyres, etc. Also it's a Ducati and I feel proud to own one.

I learnt to ride on a Honda NC750. I found on that bike that counter steering really helped, whereas on the Ducati it just seems to easily lean into corners.

Very happy with it.
