It depends on how you want to use your bike - if you want mixed use then the Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs are a good bet - for dedicated road use, I would go with Metzeler Roadtech (01?) - well reviewed elsewhere on these forums.  The Trail IIs are good, not worth binning before they are worn out, but there are better tyres for the road come change time, IMO.

Murf, I an curious to hear your opinion about de Road 5 (compared to standard tyres).
I am asking because soon I'll have to look for new tyres.
My experince it's only with PR 4,5 and Pirelli from MTS. My guessing is that the Road 5 has excelent grip, even on wet, but won't last that much as the standard tyres.

Great tires for just about any road not real off road of course.  But hard dirt very good.
My BMW GS Friends also think very highly of these tires.
For a performance ADV bike doing mostly touring this is about as good as it gets.
Fantastic in the rain.
Life behind bars enjoy the ride

I'm happy so far with the Trail 2s.
An impromptu day at the track showed that there's enough grip to drag peg (there are some suspension setup changes coming also), and modest miles on packed dirt roads showed that there is some more usability than just street.  They work well on my local northern California roads that are poorly maintained, and have a wide temperature/moisture variation in and out of the sun. For the price I think they're a solid value.

Excellent tires for on-road performance with reasonable tread life. I agree there are better options for off- road. Im on my second set and never considered changing to another brand. I ride mostly mountain twisties with lots of lean angle and they are very confidence inspiring.

I'm very impressed with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs on mine.

My Crosstourer came with Pirelli Scorpion Trails (No number) and they were shot in 5,000 km so I wasn't best pleased when I saw my Mutli came with Pirelli Scorpions too. But I'm now at more than 10,000 km and the tyres still have about 5mm of tread left so could be good for close to another 10,000 or so.

I've never had more than about 10,000 km out of a rear tyre before.  Previous best was the last set on the Crosstourer that just made to 10,000 with Michelin PR4.

The long tyre life isn't coming at the expense of grip. They perform fine in all weather.

I do mostly commuting & touring with the occasional track day and no off-road/adventure. At the 15000 km service a month ago I changed the OE Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 to Pirelli Angel GT 2.
The Scorpions were fine for their purpose but they are more towards road + adventure and I wanted tyres that are more sport touring and less adventure and would also give confidence when pushed hard at the track. Today I had my firts track day and the tyres behaved very well. Lots of grip and very good communication of what was going on. They are also very nice for my daily commutes and weekend tours. For my purposes they are very good.
