There was some in there when I had the panels off back in October! But, as you say, it's nigh on impossible to see normally. Since my motor is not overheating, I assume all is good. In fact, at times in this cold weather, the reading rarely goes above 70C

The bottle is in the most awkward place. I find it easy to remove the top if you turn the bars fully over to the right.
I stick a long pencil in as a depth gauge to check the level while sitting on the bike to keep it up right and not on the side stand.
Another tip. Shine a torch up to the bottom of the bottle and you can see the level if you shake the bike 👍

Honestly, I can't remember the colour. The panelling is not something I would remove just to check the level. If your engine is not overheating then don't worry about it.

The coolant is pink (ENI Agip - it doesn't seem all that easy to obtain) and yes difficult to get the top off  - I wrap an elastic band around it a couple of times to get some additional grip. Never had to top it up yet

Thanks I can see what I thought was another colour in there so that might be it. Ill try the elastic band trick tomorrow 👍

I shine a light under the expansion tank. Alternatively take the cap off and shine a light directly in so it lights up the inside.
If I knew what I was doing I would probably stop doing it.
