1260s Test ride
« on: May 07, 2018, 08:10:21 AM »
Had a test ride on a 1260S yesterday at a Ducati road show in Crewe. I thought I was going to love it but if honest I was happier getting back on my 950. Seemed heavier and lower but it was amazingly fast.

Thanks for the info. I sat on the 1260 recently but didnt find it comfy compared to my 950 so I didnt book a test ride. I am 64 though it just felt a bit cramped

That's surprising. I thought it would be the same frame/chassis

It would possibly be the seat was set to low although the frame has changed to accept the new engine.

Here in portugal i did the test and my opinion is that with those tires and rims the bike andles like a sport bike, we have to put leg out to curve fast... i prefer the enduro configuration. Other case is the motor and the quick shift (amazing). Very fast, but if i had money i go to 1200 enduro

Interesting comments - when I ride one lived it and felt it was an improvement on the 1200 and s bit step up from the 950.
The 12s could not tempt me away from the 950 but the 1260s - mmm 🤔
The cost though is prohibitive.
Full of enthusiasm - in all the wrong places

I had my test ride yesterday on the 1260S the one word that sums it up is POWER!!!!! :305: apart from that.......

I rode it like my 950 BIG MISTAKE...... :005: with in 1/4 mile of leaving dealer the front wheel was seeing daylight  :164: but was told by dealer later don't worry it won't let you get into any trouble as it has wheelie control I just lets you have a little fun, so best keep as much weight forward as possible if your going to give it a fist full.

now unless I'm imagining this the seat to bars height is different, on my 950 I seem to sit more in the bike with bar slightly higher but with 1260S the bars seemed lower but seat was no higher (dealer said 1260S is about an inch lower in standard form than the 950)

First time I have tried a quick shifter or the skyhook suspension, it seems a little strange changing gear under load up or down with out using clutch ( which seamed a lot heavier, hydraulic Maybe? )
the skyhook suspension is it really worth 3000 probably not but the only way I can really describe it is the ride is firm but like riding on a air cushion at the same time, there was no normal suspension vibration from road surface just smooth until some large lumps in the road surface.

the LCD screen & menu is a lot better than our display, OH YES...... heated grips & cruise control AS STANDARD  :046:

Yep, we need to know if you are tempted - or sticking with the 950.
Sometimes you need a really crooked road to get your head straight
