The standard 950 battery is pretty awesome !!!

Well... as I said in an earlier post - I haven't been using my Mutley for a while during this glorious (open face helmet) weather as I've been using my Thruxton R.

However the weather forecast for tomorrow morning looks a little dodgy with some possible wet stuff during my work commute into the big smoke and I don't want to get the Thruxton R wet and dirty! (its a glorious bike, but takes bloomin forever to clean!) + when using an open face helmet rain flippen hurts!!!

So thought I would ride in tomorrow on my Mutley instead, but hang on a minute.... I have just looked at my calendar and realised I haven't fired her up in over 5 weeks!!! 

So rather than chance it tomorrow morning, thought I better give it a try, and guess what.... fired up very first time without any hesitation!

The standard 950 battery seems to be pretty awesome!!!

Is there an easy way to bump start the bike if you are stranded with a flat battery.??
I had a situation at home at the beginning of the year when I went to start it after 6 weeks and was totally flat. Never even turned over once.
I forgot about my tracker and that needs power too. I leave my bike on the trickle charger now most of the time so I don't have a repeat episode.

I tried to push and bump but the compression is too much. My old 600cc 4 cylinder was easy to do if i forgot to turn off my Oxford grips at work. That's one reason I won't buy oxfords again. They were supposed to be intelligent!!. They must have been faulty.

Good to know it will hold a charge. The battery on my 1098 was a weakfish.  I have two battery tenders but I use them on the two bikes that don't get run as often. The battery

I put the 950 off the road for the winter months and use an Optimate, however at the being of this summer I broke a finger and the bike has been laid up without said Optimate for nearly 3 months but last week started without hesitation.

yea I find that the battery is also good on the 950. I had two hypermotard 1100 and the battery stuggled on them quite often.

I had a tall bike (Aprilia Pegaso) that I tried to bump start. The problem was not so much the compression but throwing my leg over while running with the engine kicking off. I usually kneed the seat and almost ended in a pile gasping for breath. So either bump start without jumping on (not something I find easy) or look for another method would be my advice.

I'm afraid I didn't find the battery that good.  I was travelling for work for the last two months and had to leave the bike parked up under a cover.  This week I was able to move it back into the garage and hook up the tender. Battery dead.  Had to run out and get a new one,. Bike batteries are so fickle.  I've had batteries last a six month winter lay up and start with no problem and others fail in a few weeks.

Came home after 3 months away and the bike had been parked outside but under a standard cover. Bike started at the first turn of the key. Can't complain about the battery at all.

Last winter I disconnected the battery & brought it inside room temperature which worked fine, but this winter 🥶 I’m using the genuine Ducati battery maintainer, but unlike normal trickle chargers it does not connect to the battery, you plug it into the diagnostic port, I must also add it’s in a garage.
