Front Sprocket chance

I talked to my dealer today about the front sprocket and changing it at 10.000 mile service. The rear still looks new but the front shows signs that the teeth are bending a little bit backwards. To give the chain a longer livetime it might be wise to chance the front sprocket so the chain doesn´t wear out quickly. The dealer gave me the option to buy a 14 teeth sprocket instead of an original sprocket with 15 teeth. It gives the bike a few hundred RPM extra so it drives easier at slow speeds he says and by doing so the ratio becomes 7% shorter. Has anyone done so?

Can't see why one would want to do that unless you were doing a lot of time off roading and wanted that lower down torque in first . Wouldn't it take down the top end speed and also over read on the speedo even more ?

It certainly will reduce top end and speedo accuracy. I’ve had much better results by adding teeth to the rear sprocket on bikes that I’ve owned.

beware as it can change the speed meter and change the miles meter and add mores miles than the real.

In the racing bikes in the trackdays many friends go down on the sprocket, and it changes the values of speed and miles
