The principle of the idea is good but from the pictures it looks like a buoyancy jacket

Not really planning to ditch the Mutley in deep water, so really can't see a use for it here...
Whats the betting that most are activated when the rider walks away from his bike forgetting its still connected....

I see one in there MK shop this morning, the cord needs a very strong tug to activate & has a sort of bungee strap to allow for movement on bike & enough slack if you forget to unclip as you get off the bike, can be activated 6 times before inspection is needed or obvious signs of wear or damage

Even with a 20m plus cord, there will still be plenty who do.....
I think if I had activated 6 times either by accident or by parting company with the bike, I might want to re-asses my riding ability or general stupidity....

I actually have that exact vest, it’s good knowing there is this extra bit of safety when I go swimming ;-)
As for activating it accidentally, it requires quite a hard pull, so getting off the bike without unclipping is not a problem (have done it a few times)
Biggest issue with this sort of system, versus electronically activated ones, is forgetting to clip on!

No I would not use this. I would rather be spanked.

If you would prefer, they also do riding jackets with the airbag system integrated. Those are a lot more subtle! Given the weather conditions in the Pacific Northwest and the observational skills of local drivers, I went for the subtle as a punch in your face option ;-)
Ride safe!

Raised in the land of the free and home of the brave. We don't even wear helmets sometimes.
Stupidity can be bliss.
But if you haven't blasted down a huge expanse of asphalt chasing each other at triple digit speeds with googles no lid and the wind forcing your smile from ear to ear, you haven't been experienced.

Oh I hear you! My formative riding years were spent in Greece, where our idea of safety was a pair of sun glasses and on occasion some sun screen.
