    Trade-in values and Multi 950S

Hello chaps - interested to hear what folks have discovered around the trade in value of the 2017/2018 950 Mutleys.  My local dealer (Laguna Performance in Ashford) has no less than x5 950 Multistrada's 2017 and 2018, low mileage in lovely condition, with various specs.  They tell me that the 950S is now the most popular Multistrada, and all other 950 models SH stock is not selling (everyone wants the S version)  I was only offered 7K for my Jan18 Bike with 7600 miles on Saturday, but they wouldn't take my Bike at the moment....

I don't really care as my Bike is good for many years and I love it, but just be aware if you are thinking of trade in soon - it may be better to sell privately, unless your dealer is not stocked to the gunnels.  I am guessing Laguna bought a reasonable stock and are now struggling to shift earlier models.

I am sure this is a market dynamic that will pass, but wondered what other folks experience has been?  For me, I'll be hanging on another year or two yet, then hopefully trade mine against a SH or ex-demo 950S a year or two down the line.

In reality the 950S is a slightly better all round Bike - the suspension I found the most impressive feature - the QS and gearbox were nothing to write home about (a bit hit & miss I found), but overall it seemed like a better version, but no so good that I would be prepared to put down 6K on a new one...

Agreed, although PCP deals do not suit everyone.  I tend to prefer to own my bikes and not worry about annual mileages etc but each to their own.  I do understand that PCP deals make biking more accessible for folks especially as (just like cars) bikes are now far more expensive than ever....

Ducati_al. Not sure if that was good or bad but I have just been offered 7700 on a 950 bought May 18  with touring pack, gps holder , heated grips and spotlights (not sure if the top box and fittings were included in that price) against a 950S with no extras.

So how much will you have to pay out for the 950S?

the tour version 950S is 15319 so i would have to put another 7619 and still not have heated grips or spots or maybe topbox. Is it worth it? not really!

This is an interesting and very relevant topic as those that took out PCPs 3 years ago when the 950 first came out are now nearing the time for potential change to upgrade to the 950s, or choose something different  :084:

My 3 years are up in March and I've just asked my dealer for an indication on cost to change to a 950s. I'll share info when they respond, however my Mutley will have 18k on the clock, so I am not holding out much hope as no doubt they will moan about the cost of having to do the 18k service.

I'm a firm believer its safe to assume there will be no equity left at the end of a PCP, and IMO Ducati do tend to set the 'option to buy' cost very high on their PCPs. We shall see.

I must admit to being somewhat smitten with the new Yamaha Tenere 700 which I looked over in great detail at the recent NEC bike show, so if I don't get a decent deal on a 950s, I know where I'll be heading!  :005:

I recently paid 3600 inc heated grips to trade a 2018 4.5k 950 for a 950s, I swapped over the touring kit to the new bike, due to the weather I have only don 300 miles and there is now salt on the roads, my local dealer has 5 s/h 950 for sale

Crikey,   (Red Chunkey = recently paid 3600 inc heated grips to trade a 2018 4.5k 950 for a 950s) , that seems too good to be true. A new 950S is 14245, that means they gave a trade in of 10645. Which dealer offered the deal? If my dealer offered that I would consider changing.
