    Is it worth the wait???

Hey all, Scott from Oz here, I've been a lurker for some time, and have enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I thought it best to finally dive on in and introduce myself. Have been riding for the past 30 years or so, started out on trail bikes and first road bike was a wee Honda Rebel 250. Stepped up to a Kwaka 750 and stayed with the jap bikes for some years. My first Ducati was an S4 Monster and I couldn't believe the grin factor. Since then I have had a couple of Harleys and in August I purchased a 950S  :001:

Now in Oz there is quite a wait on the 950S model hitting our shores, at this stage I have been told I shouldn't expect delivery until mid December, quite frankly this waiting is difficult to do. I have been contemplating the 1260S, and I know I want the 19" front wheel, and I know the power is more manageable on the 950, I just want a bike. Should I be thinking along the lines of Patience is a virtue, and good things come to those who wait? Or just go out and get the 1260S, arrggghhh waiting is sooooo hard!!

Thanks in advance for any replies, and thanks to you all that make this forum so great.

    Cheers

Hi BuddyOz  :400: to the forum  :305:
Over here in the UK we have to wait about 6 to 8 weeks for our 950s as they are built to your specs, what I mean is the basic bike is not delivered to a dealer and they put on your parts like heated grips, centre stand etc.
Ducati will not allow that unlike other manufacturers, but all I can say is its worth the wait and you being in Oz you will be riding in Nice weather in December.
    Be patient  :152:

I've ridden the 1260 and personally, I think it's just too damn big unless you're riding two-up a lot.
Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

Interesting... in NL they absolutely do kit it out upon arrival at the dealer.  Maybe it depends what they have already in their order supply chain and how quickly they want to get the sale.  Might also differ per country/importer(?)

....and Scott, just wait.  It's worth it!

There's a certain amount that the dealers can do, but depending on the spec it may need to be part of the customer order. Dealers can order a certain spec in anticipation of an order as well which means you'd get the bike faster.

I did the factory tour at Borgo Panigale in the summer and that's how they explained it then.

And ... welcome Scott. I don't envy you waiting. It was bad enough for me to do so for a month.

Hi all, the waiting is still killing me and to top it off, received a call from the dealer yesterday saying not to expect it until mid January  :172: :172: :172: :172: I am mighty pi :232: ed about this. Not sure I am willing to wait another 10 weeks. Will be testing out the 1260 Enduro on the weekend, will see what happens.

Well almost exactly 6 months from when I ordered, it has finally arrived.

Have only ridden from the dealership to my garage, so still less than 10km’s on the clock 😆. Looking forward to the weekend to get out and ride, it’s been so long since I ordered it, I still can’t believe it is finally here.
    Happy riding everyone 😉

Congrats BuddyOz, hope it was worth the wait (I'm sure it was)

Looks like you've fully kitted it for Adventures but I recommend the Altrider brake pedal pad and some throttle spacers , wish I'd fitted them from the off.

So you bit the bullet Wassers, I thought the T7 had swayed you ....
