    Stolen

Hi all, sad news I'm afraid. After only 1 month of owning my beautiful red 2017 Multistrada 950,she was stolen out of my garage, along with all my bike gear. Could everyone please keep an eye out for anyone trying to move one on. Currently AK17 JZN, it is datatagged and was stolen from the Southampton area of the UK on the 21st November. Beautiful condition, has a tinted screen and givi tank bag attachment, the rest is standard. I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks Julian. Yes the police have been informed, we had other items stolen from the house in the burglary, so we'll be contacting the house and bike insurers today. Very upset and frustrated, as with most people on this forum, I researched which bike to get for a long time, (at least a year in my case) and then finding the right one at the right price etc. It's just really annoying that I only got a handful of commutes in and a ride out to the Dorset coast. Sad times.

That's tough - I'd be gutted if mine went that way. Hope you get it back or at worst a proper insurance settlement so you can replace. If that is the case at least it's a good time of year to buy with dealers wanting to offload stock before the winter doldrums. Small consolation I know.

Just out of interest Phil did the bike have any additional security devices or was it just the steering / ignition lock ? Do you think they trucked it away or were they somehow able to ride it ?
(just in case there are some security lessons there to be learnt for the rest of us)

Hi all. Unfortunately I haven't heard anything more, as yet.
Security-wise, the only systems in place were the steering lock and immobiliser, which were all easily overcome as soon as they found the key. Most garage doors are easy enough to open from the inside. There is datatag on the bike but the logo sticker wasn't prominent enough in my opinion. The last owner put it just under the tail light, in hindsight, I should have moved it.
The only advice I can offer is:
Keep it out of sight (I washed mine at the weekend and the helmets were visible from the drive)
Security system on the house (7 houses burgled in our village in the past week, not one had a security alarm or cameras)
Fit wheel locks, and chain your bikes to ground anchors. If they want something enough, you won't be able stop them but I wish I hadn't made it so easy for them.
The silver lining to this burglery is that I have been able to imagine what the "getaway" was like. 2 nippers, possibly called something like Jordan and Devon, trying to ride away on the bike (one of them carrying my 3ft sledgehammer and a 5litre demi John of coins) which they haven't had time to warm up and they've never ridden so stalls 20 times between my house and where ever they are going.
Probably incorrect but it makes me feel better knowing that they possibly regretted taking her as soon as they got out of my garage.

Sorry to hear about this. It's sad, but I am paranoid about the security of my bike. Your comment got me thinking, as soon as they have the keys for the ignition, all security is out the window. Even though I lock it in the garage with a disc lock and chain (ground anchor to be installed imminently), I may rethink where i put the keys. Also looking at CCTV (living in the middle of nowhere doesn't help).
I'll keep an eye out for it round this way for the plates and spec. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Might be worth a glance at e Bay 950 used parts in a couple of weeks time to see if there is an increase in newly listed items if the bike has been  broken up and someone is trying to sell it as spares - then you might get the culprits
