    Front Brake Master Cylinder Fail

Went to get the bike out of the garage on Saturday only to find the brake lever  going all the way back to the grip. Oops, not going riding on that, I thought. Now, some of you may remember that I’ve already had two replacement units under warranty  due to fluid leaking from the reservoir cap. The bike has been out of warranty since June but today I paid a visit my dealer all the same. The service manager couldn’t believe it and said he can probably get a new one for me as a goodwill gesture. They will collect the bike as it’s not safe to ride. Can’t ask fairer than that!

That's unlucky Neil... but great service from your dealer  :028:

Sometimes these things will happen and it's good to know the dealers got your back.  Lets hope it doesn't happen again though.  I had a slight weep on my front MS, but my dealer sorted it at the last service.  Is it just me that thinks the standard brakes are OK but could be improved?  I am thinking about different pad types next, but it could be a better Brembo front master cylinder could also improve matters.  Don't get me wrong it stops, but not without a good 'ol squeeze - makes me think a different pivot point providing more pressure for less movement on a bigger bore piston would improve things.  Thoughts?

Never had a problem with anything on the original braking system, other than the pads wearing out a bit quick. Never had a problem sealing the master cylinder.
I tried semi-sintered pads to see if they lasted longer but they don't and they're definitely not as good as the originals especially in the wet. I've got fully sintered pads again for the next change which is due over the Xmas break.
I also tried EBC 'V' system disks but they were terrbile (warped) and customer backup was non-existent. I've stumped up for new disks from an Italian dealer who was doing them at a great price. I don't need them yet but I thought I'd better get them before Brexit (apologies for mentioning the B word).
Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.
