    IBEX Sump Guard

Fitted an IBEX sump guard over the weekend.  It was a bit of a faff 'n wrestle to finally get the damn thing in place and I had to go out and buy the correct M6 washers  :232: .....but I have to say I am very pleased with the results - much better protection to the exhaust downpipe and front lower parts of the bike.  I don't like the Ducati guard in plain aluminium - looks much better in black anodised ally to my eyes.  I also considered the guard from Evotech, but that leaves the existing plastic guard in place and doesn't look as good as result.  Might be easier come oil change though... :187:

Anyone else fit one of these?

    Looks good Al,
I am considering same as the Ducati plate is 3 x the cost.  Also heard it was an exercise to install.
Did you use a locktite product to secure the screws?

I did for the bolts that hold the mounting frame to the lower section of the engine casing (x6) but it’s not worth it for the many others as they tighten against rubber grommets mounted in holes in the guard

Looks really tidy. Worth the upgrade. Your exhaust header is so clean too! What's your trick to getting the oxidation off?  :450: :431:

Well spotted - I cleaned it knowing it would be hidden away for a while...I clean it once a year with Harpic Max Power 10 bleach in the black bottle, neat on the downpipe with a nylon scourer.  Soak scrub, rinse repeat!  Once done, I polish up with autosol as otherwise it's a very matt finish.  Whole process only takes 10 - 15 minutes, and it tends to last 10 months or so (or lots of wet riding) before it looks rusty again.

    Hi Al,
Could you post some pictures of your whole bike now that the gaurd is installed.  The close ups are great but would be nice to see the complete package.  It looks so much tighter and cleaner then the others.
    Thanks

Just take care not to splash it anywhere.......keep it solely on the pipe. Wear your Marigolds  :008:
