    Downpipe cleaning tips please

After a couple of rides on salted roads the downpipe on my 6 month old bike looks like it's 10 years old.

Now seems to be perfect time to tidy it up, so please let me know your top tips on getting it gleaming!
I don't think I have anything like Autosol here. What are my alternative options?

The bleach and wire wool was taking me so long, so decided on power tools. Used Wire Cup Brush (link below) with the drill and the results were perfect. Wiped down and a little Autosol later, it looked good as new. Once you get it back to that, then maybe bleach and wire wool will be easier to keep on top of it twice a year.

There are also some mixed reports about using Harpic Max and the damage it can cause so I'd rather not use it if I can.

Twice a year a pan sponge works great. I used to ride 30.000 km's a year, in summer, autumn, winter and spring. Never had any problem to keep the down pipe neat and clean.

    kind regards,

Metal polish is good to use after the bleach to bring the shine back to what is normally a fairly matt looking downpipe.  Just use whatever you have Brasso....etc

It's great when you have the downpipe clean, but then it is a little spoilt when you notice the cat at the back just sitting there covered in corrosion. Is there an easy way to clean that up?
