There has been a lot of indicesion :087: about what to as my PCP was nearing the end, I just happen to come across a very well specced 1260s touring for the same price as a new 950s

I have created a photo album in the gallery of some pictures

I hope you like it!  Whats it like v the 950?  I must say if I was replacing my 950, I would consider the 950S, the Versys 1000SE and the GS1250.  Most likely the 950S....
The power of the 1260 doesn't interest me as I never find the 950 lacking in that regard.  I'm perfectly happy with my 2018 950 - I would just love to resolve the digital clutch when cold issue......without changing my bike!

Congrats BabyD on your new purchase!

It look a huge bike in comparison to the 950 - is it?

    Whats the clutch like?

    Have fun and be safe!

    Nice! Congrats!

Now it’s just a matter of getting used to “sh..t your pants” every time you twist heavy your right hand! The power difference is tremendous and even scary till you get used to it (I never got on my 1200S - before the 950S).

    Cheers

I disagree there is a huge difference in performance. Check out the very interesting video below that compares the 950 with the 1200. There is virtually nothing in it until you get over 120 mph! Be honest, you can't do that speed on the road and keep your licence!

I know things have moved on since this MCN video with the 1260 and 950s, but that's probably narrowed the gap even more now!!

Sometimes you need a really crooked road to get your head straight

    Hi Wassers,

Thanks for the video, had not seen it before. Having migrated from the 1200S to the 950S I have to say I disagree with the video..... the power difference is really significant (what doesn’t mean the 950 is weak and slow, maybe just that the 1260 is overpowered).

The amount of torque available on the 1200 slingshots you, to a point that you’re scared if not prepared for that, and this was one of the main reasons of my “trade down” from the 1200 to the 950. I didn’t need all that, it’s too much for my use, aspirations and skill!

My trade motivation was twofold: wanted a newer bike than my 2014 1200 and someone made me an irrefutable offer on the 2014. When I bought the 950 I had several options of 1260’s (slightly used) and several 1200’s Enduro for the same or slightly better price than what I paid for mine. Still went for the 950S. And I lived it.

All just to say that by any means I’m detracting the 950, but the power difference vs the 1260S is big in my opinion. The 1260 has a “scare factor” vs a more civilized 950.

    @BabyD, what is your veredict?

    Cheers!
