    SW-Motech Alu Street Rack Problem

I’ve received this and attempted to fit it but it is wrong for my bike!

The brackets and plate are much too wide over the pillion grab rail.

I bought this from a UK shop. They have forwarded photos to Motech in Germany, who say they have never had a problem with this rack before and are looking into whether there are any variations in the bike that they don’t know of.

If anyone has fitted this rack, could you please measure the widest part of the rack plate, the distance between the centres of the holes for the clamps to the grab rail. I can’t see why my grab rails should be any different to others 🤔

    Thanks!

I purchased one but returned it after seeing that it looked so out of character with the tail end. I didn’t even try installing it. The Ducati rack functions just fine for mounting a tail bag and it looks so much better than the SW. I generally love SW products but they blew it with this design.

I also bought this one, and returned it. I then went with the Ducati ( made by Touratech ) rack, easy fit and looks natural. A little more money, but worth it.

I have an SW-Motech rack on my 2017 950. I measured the wides part as 45 CM. The centers of the forward, outside clamp bolt holes are 42 CM and the inners are 33.
I did not measure the rear hole centers because I have a Givi adapter plate wired for a stop light kit.  Looking at my rack and your picture something seems a bit different. I will try to post a picture.

Many thanks for posting this, lather. That measurement is the same as mine, so clearly there is a variation in the pillion grab rails that Ducati have used, with mine being narrower than yours. The rack will be returned!
