Hello everyone.  I don't own a Ducati yet as I have been on the fence with my Triumph Tiger 1050.   The 950 intrigues me and I hope to be convinced here!

    Hi Moodytico

Well I toyed between buying either a Triumph Tiger 1050 or a Ducati Multistrada 950 over 3 years ago. To make up my mind I test rode them back to back, and although I am a Triumph nut, it was obvious the Ducati was the much better bike of the 2.

I think the only way for you to be convinced the Ducati is right for you is to do the same.... test ride them back to back and let us know how you get on.

I've recently upgraded to a 950S and its simply a stunning bike.

Sometimes you need a really crooked road to get your head straight

Exactly as Wassers says above. The Ducati is such a nicer all-round bike than the Triumph for what they are built to do.......coming from somebody who loves his Speed Triple 1050R!

Thanks for the advice, especially coming the Triumph folks.  My Tiger 1050 is set up to run really well...cat delete, ecu tune, opened up box, etc.  Doesn't run as well as the speed triple but but in the 120 ish range.  I like the 950SW as I do dirt fairly often.  The Tiger does OK on fire roads but the weight sits up high, making things a little sketchy.  I like that the Ducati appears to be better balanced and is comfortable for longer rides.  The Tiger is comfortable on tarmac for extended trips but no so much on dirt.  If I could get the Enduro package on the 950SW I think that would be the way to go.

What about the new Tiger 900 Rally Pro?

Nice bike but low on power compared to the Ducati and I can't afford 16k for a new bike.  I can get a 17 or 18 950 new for 10-12.

Fair enough, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 950.

HI, where in the PNW are you?

FWIW, I wouldn't want to use the 950 offroad. While I am sure that there are people that are happy to do so, I would consider this bike to be less of an 'adventure' bike and almost wholly road oriented. (I came to it after 14 years of GS ownership.)

I'm in North Central Washington.  Wenatchee to be exact. I like to explore both on and off road.   Mostly forest service roads and fire roads.  I would say 80 percent on tarmac.  Any bike can be an adventure bike.  In 2018 I rode my Kawasaki versys to the Artic ocean and back, including the Dempster to Tuk and back and TOTW in Alaska.  5.5k miles in 12 days.  Dont see any reason why the 950 with proper protection and spoked wheels couldn't do it.
