fuel consumption - the computer is very optimist

who is the one that made more than 300km with 1 gas tank ??

last vacations, notice that my average was 4,9lt great yes?, but the bike barely made 300kms, with this average it should be "barely" on the 400kms, just saying... add 1lt more to your fuel average.

another thing, even with the gas computer displaying no more kms to do, never could put more than 19 liters, if the specs of  the brand are ok, this should mean 1lt more in the Tank... but don't take it for granted  :038: :038:

This is not an economical engine, I don't care what the computer says. I don't worry about fuel but I know the computer lies. Why does the fuel light come on so early? Is the computer also lying there?

    ok now the real deal.
Made a road trip, 2000kms this que week, computer says 4,4lts, the real reading is 4,6lts,  so this is a amazing average.
When the fuel light comes up, about 280kms trip,  I stop for gas, and only could fill it up with 14lts, so must have about 6lts in the gas tank, meaning more 100kms at least.

so, the bike can be very economical, the trip was always made in 80% twisted road, no chicken stripe on the tire, great tarmac, never had lack of grip, I'm in love with the bike, hate the gearbox, but love the bike 😅

I'm new to my Multi 950S, but fuel light coming on at 280Kms (175mls) , I'd be happy with that , basically  200ml touring range.  :001: :001: :001:

Normally each segment on the fuel gauge works out to be 20 miles, so you should get about 200 miles

I've found great variation in the mileage according to the driving style (which is totally expected).

If I cruise at 80mph +/- 5mph it will do 200 miles to the tank without much of a problem (although I'd fill-up with my fuel light on).

If I ride aggressively, cruising at 90-100+mph with strong accelerations, take-overs, etc it will make me stop to refuel at around 150 miles.

Although a difference is expected I didn't expect to be that much. As @Kibo mentioned below it is not an economical engine. And on that note, the fuel consumption is VERY similar to the 1260S.

My fuel range says 205miles with a full tank & fuel light comes on @ 44miles

but I don't worry about mpg, if it needs it I fill it up  :028:

Like fipenna says, touring I can get over 200 miles on a tank without too much trouble, having fun I'm around 200 miles and commuting I'm down to 170 miles. I don't think that's surprising.

My guess on why the reserve light comes on so early; I think Ducati use the same system on several bikes. I had a Scrambler on loan for a few days and when the light came on (two bars still showing) you needed fuel and soon! The bigger tank on the MTS950 increases the amount in the reserve.
Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

Take a peek at this site if you have not heard of it before ... it provides real world fuel consumption values from folk whom have signed up ... for motorcyles and cars. When I say real world, that depends on the folk entering their values ... but I would trust that as compared to a computer on a motorcycle or published values from a manufacturer.

Up to ~3000 km my experience was that the average consumption data was absolutely false, showed much less than the real consumption. After I have complained to the dealer he has updated the firmware of the bike and I got very precise result.

The current status is that the range data is pessimistic. Last time I rode on hilly countryside with moderate speed - avoiding any highway. I was riding at around 100-110 km/h, (what is really 95-105). The AVG. CONS was 4,2 by the BC, calculating at the pump the real was 16,68 / 382,4 km = 4,36. That means the BC is precise enough. But the RANGE was not so accurate. It showed only 41 km left when I could fill only 16.68 liters, therefore the remaining is 3,32 liter in the tank what could be enough for ~76 km. I do not believe this could be a serious problem however.
