    Worn Brake Hose

I seem to remember some time ago, someone posting that the ABS sensor lead on the front brake had worn through rubbing on the front mudguard (AKA fender).

I've had a similar problem but much more worryingly with the actual brake line itself...

Both sides had worn but the right hand side was worse. The picture below shows it better; it's gone through the outer , the metal braid and has started on the harder white (nylon?) inner...

A replacement was around £45 and easy enough to fit but I thought I'd try to stop it happening again. The line is very stiff and springs tight against the guard so I tried to cut away the plastic it was rubbing against. Unfortunately no matter how much I cut the line continued to push up...

Next I tried holding off the line with zipties and sticky bases but again the forces were so strong they just pulled straight off (they looked ugly anyway). And in the meantime trying these ideas the line was already showing signs of rubbing...

In the end I found some old cooling hose that had and internal diameter just less than the external diameter of the brake line (probably an imerial/metric miss-match), I cut off two 40mm lengths and split them down the back so I could wrap them round the brake line. They grip really tight and don't slide. I've done about 500 miles with them so far. The bikes on 27,000 mile.

Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

I was alerted to this post on another thread about mudguard extensions.  I have a 2020 950S and it seems Ducati have done something about this problem on later bikes.  The brake line where it fouls the mudguard is now fitted with a sleeve, similar idea to Conman’s, but it is longer and a woven type fabric.  I will keep an eye on that sleeve.
