    Ducati Glasgow in administration ... :(

    I've just heard that the Glasgow Ducati & Triumph dealership has appointed Grant Thornton as an administrator. They're hoping to find a potential buyer and keep the business going.

    While I have not had the best experiences there, it would be a real shame for everyone if they can't find a buyer. Not least as we wouldn't even have a Ducati dealership in Scotland anymore. Tyler at North Motorcycles in Leith could end up being busier than ever!

    Fingers crossed for them.

    Hi All,

    Just received an email confirming that Ducati Manchester Group is taking over Ducati Glasgow including the Triumph Dealership. Good news for Scottish Ducati owners.

    One thing of interest in the email ...
    "The businesses will remain at the current Hillington address for the next few months, but we are planning a new store location for later in 2021."
    Kind Regards,
    Wethogs

    Good News. I visited whist up there this year. It's a lovely store. I wonder if they are splitting off the Triumph franchise

    There's certainly some logic in the idea that they may sell of the Triumph part of the business if they want to remain a Ducati specialist. In which case the site is too big.

    I wonder whether part of the issue is to do with rent as that's been a problem for a number of businesses this year, including my own employer. If they have a landlord who is not prepared to help them in these circumstances then the only option is to go somewhere more appropriate. I imagine there'll be some good opportunities for negotiation. I am also not so sure that it is in a good location where it is anyway.

    It'll be interesting to see how the new ownership affects their approach and day to day running. Hopefully it's the start of good things to come and I wish them the best of luck.

    Pulled this off ducatiforum.co.uk ... on a discussion thread about Ducati Glasgow.
    ====
    Ducati Glasgow: OpCo. XXX: PropCo. Can have the same owners of OpCo and PropCo but from a legal POV OpCo and PropCo are separate legal entities. It's commonplace when running a company that operates from brick & mortar premises to have 2 separate companies, one that owns the property and one that owns the business. The operating co the rents the property from the property co. That way if the operating co gets into difficulties due to things like Brexit/Covid/sh#t business plan etc the property company survives to keep the bricks and mortar and land and rent the property to another sucker.
    ======
    Thus the Manchester Ducati are looking for or have already secured new premises.
    Kind Regards,
