As I don't take pillions or use a topbox etc., I'm wondering if this can be done and what it looks like. Does anyone know?

The pillion grab hands are not removable as they are a moulded part of the rear of the bike

It can be done, sort of, ish.
The piece in question, as BabyD says, is a molded piece, but you could buy a spare (

part #19 - £314 ) and use what ever tools you have available to shape it the way you want to. If it works out well, you can post pictures of your results here and receive the respect, admiration and envy from the mutley crew that you so justifiably deserve. And if it doesn't work out... well, least said, soonest mended.
