Hi have had my 950 two weeks now, previous bike being a Tiger 800xcx. First time Ducati owner. Have done about 500 miles and first service booked in for next week at SMC Bikes in Sheffield.
But........
This morning I opened my garage door to be greeted by the smell of petrol. Found a puddle of petrol on floor near side stand. Removed bike from garage and could see petrol dripping down side of engine from under the seat, so removed seat and could see petrol leaking from the tank, from what I think is were the fuel sender is fitted (big plastic nut thing). Phoned local dealer, who suggested contacting ducati roadside assist as there van was not available to pick bike up. 
Didn't think I would have to use it so soon 
Appears there's been a recall on faulty fuel tanks...how did mine slip through?.
Not sure now I've made the right choice of bike

Hi Tiger1,
Their is about 4 off us that have changed from the Tiger 800, I had an Xrx one but I have definitely made the right choice at this moment in time,if you look on the forum their is a thread about recalls to do with the leaking tank which your dealer should of check before releasing the bike to you.
Anyway welcome to the forum

I considered buying a tiger 800 but I'm glad I didn't. The MTS is brilliant. I hope you got the issue sorted with the tank recall and Shocked to read your story.

You can put your bike details in on the Ducati website to see if there are any outstanding recalls. I checked mine when i heard of the fuel tank issue, nothing came up so i guess i'm ok.

Bit of an update....it took until 6pm until bike finally got picked up....by dealer SMC Bikes.
Not to impressed with my first experience of Ducati Roadside Assist/AA though, who promised bike collection within 1 hour, but with no show after 2hrs. After phoning them again was told about breakdown priorities, could they collect it tomorrow?? Fuel leaking from bike not important  Glad I wasn't broken down on some French motorway.
Anyway will visit dealer today to find out how long it is before I get bike back.......... and why known fault wasn't picked up on my bike

 If they have the tank in stock shouldn't take long to do so my Dealer told me if it needed doing on mine, which thankfully it didn't

Tiger1  Totally understand why this would put you off but when you're back on the road I hope you'll agree this is a superb motorcycle.

If I were you I'd get as much info as you can from your dealer as to why this happened then contact Ducati http://www.ducatiuk.com/company/contact_us/index.do Important to ensure they get the feedback so they can tighten their procedures. It is unacceptable this has happened to you (consequences of leaking petrol in your garage don't bear thinking about) and if they care about their customers as they say, they should compensate you for the problems their error has caused.

A bit late in posting update. Bike was ready the following Wednesday morning, but I could only pick it up on the Thursday. So was pretty happy the bike was repaired so quickly  and also had 1st service (although only done 530 mile ), as well as crashbars fitted. Well done SMC Motorcycles in Sheffield.
I've now done just over 1000 miles. MTs 950 is a pretty awesome bike, I feel only let down by its uncomfortable seat, but sorted with a air hawk. Might eventually take seat to Tony Archer in Huddersfield for a gel insert
