First ever time touring this summer, the reason I chose the MTS. I'm pretty nervous about it, but doing a couple of short 'tester' tours first this summer to see how I get on before being a bit more adventurous next year (hoping to do a trip to Assen)

So first journey will be end of July, I'm heading to Bruges and Ypres in Belgium via Callais. Staying at a camp site for one night to test the camping waters, and then the second night I'm staying in a biker-friendly B&B that looks to die for.

I have a couple of other trips planned but nothing booked yet. I'm going to aim to do a trip up to Whitby and hopefully camp there, maybe do some of the 'British Biker Roads' around the place. I'm also hoping to pop down to Kent to Broadstairs for a couple of days too.

I'm open to any and all advice!

Nice one Kingtiddles, This will be about the Fifth time I've been abroad on a bike, You will luv it, it is much more relaxed than riding in this country,
I'm off to Normandy for the first two days then dropping down below Paris towards Dijon, and finally working my way back to calais and home.
There is seven off us 3 Ducati 3 Triumph and a BMW, we are all staying in BB as we are to old to sleep on the ground  :008:

Oh man that sounds amazing!! I'm trying to get everyone I know into motorcycling because I don't really know anyone yet - another reason why I joined this forum. Once my uni stuff is out of the way I plan to spend most of summer on two wheels.

Let me know how it goes! Any reason you picked those places particularly, or just fancied checking them out?

Since 2009 I have done a Europe trip each year and only to watch my passion....Moto GP or Superbikes.
2009 Assen, 2010,11,12,13, Le Mans. 2014 short trip to Guernsey, work related. 2015 Assen for Moto GP. 2016 Assen for British Superbikes.
2017 longest trip planned to Catalunya in June 6 days away. Also booked to go Assen again for British Superbikes. Stopping in cheap selfcatering places this year.
Normally 4 days max away for Assen or Le Mans trips.

I travel on my own and meet my brother who lives in Spain and rides to the tracks to meet there. We have used Euro camp sites cos the tents are already set up so cuts down on luggage.  It's also best to find cheap B&B near the tracks because the town and track camping areas are mad busy and too noisy.
Travelling alone is fine as you meet some great bikers on the tunnel or ferrys and most times tag along for a good distance to ride as a group.  There's always other bikers going the similar routes to you so if you go for the first time you can adjust to riding on the opposite side by following others.
The roads are amazing abroad together with some great scenery and rest stops.

Oh wow, that sounds so perfect. That's why I want to go to Assen, to check out the MotoGP and the Superbikes. It looks like a fairly simple journey too (though I may be wrong). I'll look into those camp sites, cheers!

Last year at Assen I stayed at a cheap B&B in a village called Loon.  It's just 15mins max ride to.the track. Brilliant place and was cheap. It was on Booking.com but book early 😊 this year I missed out on this place so I'm in a similar village nearby.
Because it was for the BSB round the ferry are discounted on the BSB website. A great 1st trip to try in europe
