    Quadlock phone mount
    on: September 05, 2021, 04:11:54 pm

I’ve just bought the Quadlock with the std handlebar mount and anti vibe damper for using my iPhone as a satnav which is fine but I can’t use my Ducati tank bag as it fouls the mount . The tank bag has a phone mount on top but the phone overheats in hot weather plus it’s not ideal to have the phone there for ease of viewing .Any tips or remedies welcome .

You can buy a 2m cable and connect it to the USB port under the seat. Then route it under the fairing and to the dash. I have the same setup like you and works fine for two years.

Did you find a solution, extensions, mods etc or is it bar mount or bag ? Just found myself in the same situation  :003:

This is what I use, but after only 6 months and maybe 4000 miles, the phone is flopping all over the place because the mounting interface on either the case or the mount has worn.  I only use this on my motorcycle and it seems like it should last longer than 6 months without having to replace the case or mounting head.

The sceptic in me says why would they make a lasting product as they need returning customers to keep a business going

I am inclining to get a quad lock evotech screen mount BUT
there is no quad lock case listed for my Moto G phone and I guess it would be a nightmare trying to find which Huwai , or whichever, phone is the same size.

I wouldn't mind sticking the universal mount to my phone case
    BUT
if it gets floppy, I guess removal for replacement wouldn't be easy.

With a bit of care you can get an iPhone 11, Samsung S20 or Pixel 4a for just over a £100, and quadlock case at £23.

That way you keep your own phone safe in your pocket.

    Paul,
The thought of having a "disposable phone" on the quad lock had crossed my mind.

Anybody got a pic of their phone on the handlebar mounted quad lock ?
None of the advertising images I have seen show the bracket in situ , in front/below the tft , from a riders line of site perspective.

I am also beginning to wonder if mounting a phone "in the cockpit" is over cooking it --- for my needs.

I have a Garmin Zumo Ram ball mounted on the bar so have no need of visibility of the phone for navigation. I never never want to communicate by phone riding the bike.

I only want my phone mounted to keep it charged but have easy access to it.
The need to recharge it only occurs on multi day trips.

I have, perhaps belatedly , thought that having a power bank on charge under the pillion seat, plugged in to the usb socket, might be the simple and inexpensive option. I already have a power bank -- that I just checked fits in that space nicely.

I could alternatively charge phone/power bank in the little tank bag I have --- the complication of the cable flapping about at petrol fills would I suspect annoy me.

    Choices !!!!
