    Seat
    on: October 04, 2021, 02:53:32 pm

I recently purchased my Multistrada 950, and went on my first long ride this past weekend.
My only concern is the seat.  It was fine for the typical 45 min rides in an around the city, but after a couple of hours, the lack of cushion, combined with the sport angle of the seat, made it very uncomfortable (just my opinion).

Are there any reasonable alternatives out there for seats that you guys recommend?

    Thanks

The Ducati Comfort seat was an improvement for me.  Looks good too.

Same for me, the Ducati Comfort seat improved a lot (didn't solve 100% though).

On really long trips I also add an air cushion to further help/delay my tailbone pain.

i also bought it , the difference is noticeable and worth it in my opinion (not sure why its not the default seat) also 20mm higher which is good for tall people.

I have the Comfort seat.  It is much better than the standard seat, but also slopes a bit into the tank so I also use a modified Air Hawk pad to raise and level the seating area.  Air Hawk has been modified with the addition of "stepped" foam from an exercise mat.  Foam is placed beneath the air cells.  1 layer cut to the same outline as the air cells, and an additional layer in the front portion only to help level the seating surface.  Works great and substantially less expensive than an aftermarket seat or having an upholstery shop modify the Ducati seat.  An additional advantage is that you can change the foam configuration until you get a comfortable solution.

Same as the others - I got the comfort seat - definitely an improvement - though not as different as I imagined it would be. That said, I find the seat really comfortable for riding all day. In the past have used Sargent seats on BMW's and the difference with those is really marked. I notice on the forum that there are a few posts about the Corbin seat - obviously a particular aesthetic and costs around 750 - seems to raise the height a little more - but hard to determine from the posts whether it is that more comfortable to justify cost.

At 6'1", most bikes I try have a slop in the seat, just visually, looking at the Multistrada if I do buy it, I know I will have to do something about the seat, just sitting on it 30 seconds and I knew the slope would be a problem. Same on most Yamahas...like they design the seat for the track, and when you use it for touring you end up with serious pressure points. Even on my Africa Twin the stock seat was terrible for me, bought a Concepts Seats rally seat and it removed most of the slope and increased the legroom as a bonus.

I'm 6'1" and have also added an air pad ... which is fine both for comfort and for additional height. I initially found that if I utilized the lowest designed point in the original seat to ride I was too low and "leg crunched" ... If I tried to move back even a small amount I was "pitched" forward and my arse was in pain. Either way ... without the air cushion I was too low. So... I swapped the rubber footpeg inserts from the passenger to the driver ... that helped a tiny bit ... and I added the air cushion ... that's got it almost perfect ... BUT ... why would this brand new "elite" bike not come with that "comfort" seat to begin with? (and add TPMS and a decent shield to that list).
so... now I will stop ranting ... Can anyone tell me how much this comfort seat will cost me in the US? and ... is there any peg-lowering option that you have successfully tried?
    thank you much

I put the SW-Motech Ion footpads on to get a better stand up peg and 20 mm lower.  Happy with that.  As far as the OEM seat, it is probably the case that a marketing analysis for this bike would say that for every 1" additional seat height you lose 1,000 prospective customers, or whatever the numbers are, thus the "comfort" seat is an option, same as lower seats.
