Lithium Ion Batteries

Has anybody out there in Mutleyland fitted a Lithium battery to their 950/950S ? I am looking at fitting a NoCo Powersport one. Have anyone had  problems, besides needing a lithium specific type of battery charger?

Why? Good question and hopefully the clever guys on the forum can give me reasons why or why not I should fit one. If you read the blurb the manufacturers produce they would appear to have significant advantages... weight [maybe not an issue on a 950S], starting power, longevity and protection against undercharge, over charge, short circuits and so on. So if you are to believe all this, then it sounds pretty good. So for the price of a good pair of motorbike gloves should I fit one?

Over the years, I don't think I have ever thought to myself; "Self, if only the OEM battery had more starting power, longevity or protection", but then, I don't race. If I did race, the ability to save up to three kilos for not a huge amount of money would be very attractive, especially  considering the same weight saving in carbon fiber body work would probably cost closer to a grand! But to try and keep it in perspective, we are talking here about a saving of a little over 1%, or (and forgive my crudeness) slightly more then going for a good dump before you go for a ride and a lot less then not filling the fuel tank to full. If you are replacing your battery anyway, then a lighter weight option with the same or better performance is certainly worth considering.  I just wouldn't consider changing a perfectly good battery for nothing more then bragging rights. Given the bike we are talking about, just how much more bragging rights do we need?

It's a no-brainer.  It excels in all areas - more storage capacity, more cold cranking amps, and above all, it saves 10 lbs in weight!  I love it.  Had to replace my old one, I killed it while on a dirt track, constant stalling and starting.
