    Service Information

My 2018 MTS 950 now needs a service, my first since owning the bike 9 months ago. Last service was July 2020 at 2,670 miles and now mileage at 4,050.  Should this be done by a Ducati dealer (nearest 160 miles) or a local motorcycle dealer (who won't be able to reset the service indicator). I guess depends on what is required for this service?

I think it depends on whether you want to retain the value of having main dealer stamps in the log book. My 4 year service was last year and it wasn't a biggy and the tasks could be done by a good local bike shop (they may also be able to reset service indicators - my local one says he can but I haven't used him for my Multi yet) The 5 year service is a belt change one so that one is probably best left to main dealer. After that your next big one will be the Desmo service but not until 18k miles - hope that helps

After only 1500 miles, the bike doesn't need a service, so try to work out the reasons why you want one. It does like an inspection every twelve months, which according to https://maintenanceschedule.net/ducati-multistrada-950-maintenance/ would include an oil and filter change and cleaning the air filter, something you could easily manage yourself. If the excuse to ride 160 miles each way on Scottish roads really doesn't appeal to you, then you need to either think about either getting better all weather gear or ask yourself why you own a bike you ride so little?

I was scrolling through and read this post. The last post is a bit provocative.
The O.P. probably doesn't mind the 320mile round trip so much as the six hour wait at the dealership whilst they do the two hour job.
