Has anyone pulled the Alternator/Stator/Generator Cover?

I stupidly stripped one of the bolts that attach the alternator cover to the engine case and had a couple questions...  I will need to install a helicoil to repair these threads and it will require removing the cover to drill out the hole to a larger size for helicoil insert installation.

Have you ever pulled this cover off?
Will this cover have oil behind it and require draining engine oil before removal?
How critical is this to repair, right away?  If it is not a critical oil sealing area, I'm assuming I do not need to repair right away...

Here is the parts diagram. https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/ducati-motorcycle/Multistrada/2017/Multistrada_950/Multistrada-950/ALTERNATOR-COVER/299/15/0/299

While it looks like there is no oil behind the alternator cover, you will have to go through the water pump to get to it. Which bolt did you strip? That will determine how urgent the repair is.

Well, turns out I was lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it.  I'm running the Zieger Skid plate and it uses bolts for the Clutch and Alternator covers for bracket mounting.  Turns out, the bolts they give you are too short.  The factory bolts are actually longer and grab more threads.  Luckily, it only stripped because it only had 3-4 threads engaged.  The longer bolt was able to thread and come to full torque.

    Thanks

Begs the question - Why did you fit bolts that were shorter than the original !!??
