My original post was correct, you do only need 3 of the 77916041D - Screw, Special.

Sorry, I got mixed up after fitting the part and because my bike's not at my house I looked at an image and was sure there was 4 needed :430:

So the parts list is correct as:

77916041D - Screw, Special  - You need 3 of these
    86612791A - Rubber Pad (Pack of 2)
    4601N051A - Cover
    77350403B - Screw (Pack of 10)

I spotted that the clutch guard is also used on the new Monster SP so maybe this will be factory fitted to the Multistrada at some point in the future.

I've also noticed that the 2023 DesertX and the DesertX RR22 are sometimes shown with an updated version of the clutch guard:

    Hello all,

I know this topic might be a bit old now so I'm not sure if there will be a response.

However, regarding this installation of this clutch case protectors on wet clutches, can someone please list the steps for the "10 minute" installation? My main concern is whether oil will start leaking out if I remove the transmission case bolts to install the protector, even if only 3 or 4 bolts need to be removed. Do you have to drain the oil first, etc?

    Thank you,

Remove one of the clutch cover bolts and replace with one of the 77916041D - Screw, Special. Then do each of the other two the same so you’re only removing one bolt at a time.

These have a female thread in the head that the clutch cover screws onto you see.

Really simple and really does only take 10 minutes.
