Side hardbags

hi guys

has anyone placed GIVI or any other brand except the original Ducati hardbags?
The dealer was really upset when I mentioned that I'd like to buy Givi cases (TREKKER OUTBACK 37 lt) for the bike ...
he mentioned about the aerodymanic behavior of the bike, and that the Ducati cases are manifactured with specific specifications etc ....
I understand that he is dealer and he wants to sell...but I'd like to ask ...
Is there such a great difference between the Ducati's hardbags (which are GIVI manifactured) with the Givi Trekker bags, regarding the bike's performance and behavior?

I think the dealer just wants your money


 I prefer the ducati hardbags   as there is no hardware left when you remove the bags I presume the givi bags require some sort of frame work attached to the bike

Yes indeed ...
they need a frame, but this has to do with the perception of the bike's beauty ...not the bikes behavior ...
Of course there will be a difference (driving behavior) with or without bags , but that's Has nothing (or a little) to do if You carry Ducati By Givi or just Givi bags  ..

I got the Trax Adventure panniers by SW Motech. The racks from the 1200 enduro fit the 950 just fine since they both share the same sub frame. Wanted the Outback Trekker cause it was cheaper but there was issues with opening the side case lids when the top case is mounted. Glad I went with the Trax Adventure though. Quality is top notch.

Also, any bag you put on a bike will create drag but this isn't a panigale. We're not riding around at 200mph. For the most part, you won't ever feel any performance decrease regardless of what bag you put on. OEM or aftermarket. To me, both the OEM (side loading and top loading) cases were just ridiculously overpriced.

You also have to ask yourself how often am I going to use the panniers? 
 I went through a stage of having manufacturer's bags on every bike Ducati ST4, Guzzi Breva, and then Stelvio. and found that I used them 2- 3 times a year. With my Tiger 800, I bought a second hand set of Givi detachable PL pannier frames (£100) and a second hand set of panniers off ebay £65. I spent my money on a Givi Trekker top box with a liner for everyday use. It holds two helmets and I can get 3 - 4 days kit in it. I find that manufacturers panniers are also heavy, as they are often double skinned.
I find that Givi kit is great as it is well made and better shaped to get more kit in.

The Ducati panniers look great but there are other options.
