Early thoughts

So my bike goes in for it's first service this week. So far I have ridden the bike on a number of relative long (60-80 mile rides).

I have a red bike with panniers and top box.

First impressions:

1. Really like the bike
2. Need to be careful with how wide it is after a Fireblade (especially the panniers)
3. Suspension needs a fiddle as it's a bit too soft and dives too much under braking
4. I rode 75 miles in torrential rain quite comfortably with no scares as it was very well planted
5. A few false neutrals but mostly my fault and neutral is generally easy to find
6. The rear brake seems pretty weak so may adjust the level
7. Very practical and quite happy with performance during running in period but looking forward to seeing what it will be like once run in

You'll find a number of posts regarding the suspension. Personally, I have firmed it up at the front and don't have any problems.

Agree, the rear brake is poor. Maybe different pads would give it an it more bite.

Overall, a great machine that will not catch you out in any riding conditions. Glad you're pleased with it.

a great bike and for me I like the suspension soft. I had ridden 365 miles on the 17/07/17 and couldn't fault the bike. I reckon the best bike on the road for touring and all-round biking. congrats on yours

As a new owner myself with only 300 miles done , read your post with interest.
Kind of feel the same way, really chuffed with bike and how easy it is to ride. Got mine lowered by Kai's ohlins to suit my short 5 feet 7 frame and delighted with it. Bike looks no different til you sit on it really and let's me get feet on ground.
Suppose rear brake me be relative to what you are used to as I find mine to be better than previous bike, but I had a Ducati Hyperstrada which was a great bike but rear brake was pretty poor. Getting 1st service done in just over a weeks time so hopefully the rain may stop and let me get out to do the other 320 miles before service ( the pleasures of a Scottish summertime- monsoons and midges)
