Picked up a new MTS, the front end was very soggy even on the mildest braking...its now sorted though following advice from a guy who preps Dukes for track days..

I wound back the compression damper (thats the flat head screw slot on the L/H strut) fully anti clockwise, 8 clicks, to note the end setting, then re-wound 8 back clockwise to original setting, plus 4 more clockwise, thats now 12 from fully anti-clockwise.

Then added half a turn clockwise on the rebound, this the two brass hexagonal adjuster on the top of each strut...

Front end now behaves wonderfully... :002:

Good advice thanks . I think several on the forum  have also added the 3 to 4 clicks to the standard setting on the Compression setting.
I think the 2 hex adjusters are actually the Pre-load  (not rebound)  - which would make sense to prevent the front end diving

After reading comments from various publications I have tried with two clicks of compression and rebound but found it a bit harsh, so tried with only one click and I think it is a good compromise...

Looking at the number of posts on this, we could do with a definitive guide with pics and make it a sticky on the website.

This is my first time on a forum so bear with me. Got the 950 and have read the other comments about front forksetup. Can I assume the the adjustments  (compression and rebound) are carried out on both front forks?

Compression is set via the screw adjuster on the left hand fork, rebound is adjusted via the screw on the top of the right fork leg. Itís a fime art, make small adjustments only if you need it.

Im used to sport suspensions so here is my take.

At 170 pounds rider weight without gear, i cranked up the preload all the way.

Then I adjusted the compression to about 2 to 3 before fully closed

The rebound I forgot but its about 1 second to return

Now I ride it like a sport bike :)
    ymmv
