A good, well-balanced read. I would tend to go along with his experiences of the bike. With regard to the gearbox problems, I guess I must be one of the lucky ones in that I think it's one of the best I've used. Got to say, I do love the bike

Sounds about right to me too although I have not had the extreme  challenges that he had with the gearbox or clutch. No problems with the clutch and only the odd time is it problematic to find neutral.

 For me the thing which is bothersome is the wind buffeting and noise. I have the MRA Vario like he has as well, but at just about 6 foot one, it is still a little too turbulent and noisy at highway speeds  for my tastes. Otherwise I have a hard time finding something to nitpick about.

Yep, that's a good and very accurate review.

Spot on too with the clutch issue. Mine is just like that, however it does tend to get much better (and perfectly acceptable) once warmed up, but from cold.... yikes, its hard to avoid stalling the bike.

Unfortunately I start my commute very early in the morning, so in trying not to annoy the neighbors too much, I can't really sit there waiting for the bike to warm up...  so I never look forward to the first couple of stop/starts.

Great review but I have no issue with gears when engine is cold.
You should never leave cars or bikes running to warm up. The best way is to warm up running on the road from a cold start then wait until full working temp before opening up the throttle.

Really annoyed heated grips still not available and most other accessories. If 1200cc parts fit then why don't they use them?  That means they don't fit exactly so I'll have to keep waiting and saving up.
There are some sort panniers on eBay but for a 1200. If the frame is the same then they fit but I don't want to risk the purchase if I find out they don't fit and have to adapt. Panniers should not leak especially costing the best part of £800.
Come on Ducati you can do better than that. I'm glad I never bought them now. Not a big fan of hard luggage anyway.

Hi Dave,

I think the second part of the report written after the guy had more miles on the bike is a bit better and he actually says he was incorrect about his first report on the panniers. I have the Ducati ones  - I think they suit the bike perfectly (aesthetically speaking) , are easy to remove and refit, have adequate volume and I do not have not experienced water ingress

Reading some of the other reports on this forum I think that the heated grips are now available but were not when the initial part of that report was written

I think most bikers will use the time spent putting gloves on to allow a bike to warm up but in these cold days it does take a while for the MTS to get up to temperature - personally I do not suffer from the same problem as reported so I do think that MTS gears/clutch issues seem to differ between individual owners

Never bothered with heated grips all you get is hot palm's  I prefer heated gloves no cold fingers
