Heed crash bars

(1) removed painted side panels and base panels



(2) Remove original radiator bolt fit bracket and new longer bolt   (fit one side at a time)


(3) Remove nut from original engine bolt. 

 

(4) Carefully push through the new bolt this will push out the original bolt. Refit base and painted panels.

 

(5) loosely fit nuts to the 4 fixing point's, this will alow some movement. 





(6) Tighten up all bolts.

Fitting the bars is fairly straight forward  Instructions are included.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bars. The paint finish has a stainless steel appearance.

They look really good Murf, should give plenty of protection in the event of the unthinkable. A few questions:
Do the long bolts replace the existing engine mount bolts?
Are the correct torque settings included in the instructions?
Do the bars come in one piece or are they built in two halves?
Do you think you might re-locate your auxiliary lights onto the bars ?
Having fitted them to your bike, are you happy with the colour or do you think black might look better? ( by not introducing another colour)
How long did they take to fit?

They come in two parts.
I think the stainless steel silver look good,  sort of compliments the red
The new bolt that goes through the engine mount replaces the original
No torque settings given I do not have a torque wrench just winged it.
Took about 2 hours to fit.
My spotlights do not have the correctly  angle brackets to fit these  bars.

Thanks for the tip, Murf.  I visited the Heed website, and the Ducati crash bar offered says it is for the 1200.  I am assuming that is what you purchased and fit to your 950 - is that correct?

Hi, Murf.  After completing my research I am ready to order the HEED crash bars, unless you have discovered and big negatives in the last two weeks.  Are you still satisfied with the bars?  Thanks.

...just for info, I had the Ducati bars fitted and to me it always looks like they will not protect the tank fairing in the event of a spill . From the head on photo it looks like the Heed bars come out further and offer more protection (and I do prefer the looks of those ) . In retrospect I would have gone for the Heed bars (and saved myself some money also !)
