2018 Tiger 800

I'm new to the forum and retiring in August when I'll be looking for a new bike to replace my tired Fazer 1000. MS950 looks favourite at present but just wondered whether anyone had managed to blag a ride yet on the new Tiger 800. And if so what do you think? Anyone got any views as to how it compares? The xrt looks a nicely specified bike.

I think there's a few people on here who moved to a MTS950 from the 800. Maybe there'll reply when they see this post

Your retiring why not treat your self to a Ducati
You won't regret it the 950 multi is a great bike.
Looks good,  sounds good loads of power.

If it is your first Ducati it has to be red

Go for the faster one and pick white.
Red paint is heavier than Red. I opted for white because have you seen how red cars turn pink after exposure to the sun.

I wouldnt want to be seen on a pink bike 😂😂

Hi ZiggyCol - Congrats on your impending retirement - lots of time now for biking pleasure. I'm very envious as I've got another 10 years until I can get rid of this thing called work.

I had a Tiger 800 Xrx for 2 years prior to my Mutley and although I liked the Tiger, it didn't really pull on the heart strings. It lacked a bit of soul, and the stock sound of the triple is somewhat lacking unless you are giving it absolute full beans (which obviously you can't do all the time). I haven't tried the new Tiger 800, why would I, I have a fabulous Mutley - but having seen the new Tiger 800 in the flesh at the London Excel motorbike show, it didn't really grab me on the looks department.

I guess the only way forward for you is to test ride them both back-to-back... however I already know which one you will choose, and it will be Italian!

The hardest choice is which colour to go for.... red or white. Both look great, but I prefer white (with stickers of course!)

I have also recently come from a 2016 Tiger 800 and this sentence matches my feelings almost perfectly.

The Tiger is very comfortable and efficient but it wasn't a bike i fell in love with. Having said that, I was surprised at how different the Multistrada felt to the Tiger; as always, it is certainly worth a decent test ride on both.

I haven't tried the 2018 Tigers but I certainly don't regret my decision to swap. You can see my initial thoughts on a comparison to my bike  here

Thanks for all your comments. Conveniently my nearest Duke dealer (in Shipley) is also a Triumph dealer so couldn't be better when the time comes. I must say from all the on-line research I'd done the MS was looking favourite and probably still is. The arrival of the 2018 Tiger just tweaked my interest so has to be worth a look.
On the more major issue of red or white I am completely undecided . . .
