    Wing mirror adjustment

    Hi all,

Feel silly asking this as it seems so simple but I cannot get my mirrors set up so that I can see properly.

The horizontal direction is fine but the mirrors point too high, I can't get them to aim down enough. I guess I just can't get a good combination of rotation and angle adjustment.

I must be missing something. Anyone else had difficulty? I don't remember the demo bike being a problem so it must be possible.

Does anyone have a pic of their mirrors so I can try to copy it?

It's bonkers this but I had this problem even before I left the dealers. I had to get a mechanic out because the mirror adjustment is extremely limited unless you loosen the mirror arm bolt. So the mechanic came armed with a torque wrench, loosened the bolts and the arm swings about and changes height which was enough for me. He then torqued them down solid again, I think one may even be on a left hand thread  :086:

Yes your right the offside one is left hand thread which confused me for a while. Mirrors were all over the place when I collected the bike. I since changed the rotation using those bolts which helped a lot but they still don't angle downwards enough (so I barely see the tops of cars behind me).
I don't think I can change height so it must just be angle and rotation of mirror itself but movement is very limited...

Do the mirrors themselves rotate inside the housing, I cant remember, I don't think they move much. I do remember having to be quite forceful with them - actually I lost my temper which is usually when i break something but I got away with it  :164:

Yes they are supposed to have some movement within the frame just by pressure on the glass (hmm !) but not much . To get real adjustment I had to loosen the handlebar fixing bolts  - easy enough

But doesn't that throw your brake and clutch lever out of position  :086:

Just a bit, but not so you’d notice. Yes, the mirrors are a real pain to set up. Whatever adjustment you make in the garage/on the roadside always has to modified once you’ve ridden and they’re still not quite right. My offside mirror is perfect but the near side one still needs sorting, essential as I’ll be driving on the “wrong” side of the road in just over a month’s time (apologies to all our friends who persist in driving on the right  :164: )

I never had this problem, my mirrors were set up by the dealer and are spot on for me. Your dealer obviously didn't do a great job in presenting the bike for your needs.

Indeed. When i collected it, not only were they no good for me, but no good for anyone. I had to get it home and release the nut and rotate them towards me just to get any kind of view at all. But i still haven't been able to get it where i want it.

I will pick it up with them at first service next week if still not perfect.

    Cheers for the advice, all.
