    What riding mode

I hope this hasn't been done already - i did do a search.

Ever since i got my bike it has been in TOURING mode. Having just done the run in service, i figure i might try out SPORT mode, which got me thinking i should probably try at least URBAN too so that i know what the difference is.

So, aside from the poll question, how different are the modes, and why do use the one you do?

    Cheers,

Yes i use touring the most. A bit smoother during traffic build up but still the power there to get away quick when required.

My urban is set to the max DTC and ABS and I use it in the rain.
I wish I could rename it in the settings to wet !!

Urban mode - gutless, but I can imagine it would be very useful in heavy, city traffic. Allows you to drive without any jerkiness at low speed.
Touring mode - I use this most of the time now as it offers the best compromise for for all situations riding. I can chug along in 2nd gear at 30 mph with not too much jerkiness.
Sport mode - the best of the bunch for a good all-out blat around the  twisties. Nice, sharp throttle response but almost impossible to go at 30 mph without feeling like you’re sitting on a kangaroo!
Enduro mode - can’t comment as I’ve not used it.

Urban mode is definitely gutless but I use it all the time when commuting. It still shifts but you've got to dislocate your wrist to open it up. Touring is also ok for commuting but it tends to make me very impatient with everybody else which is not good in heavy traffic and filtering. I use touring for everything but commuting. Never felt the need for sport. I think enduro is the same as urban with different ABS settings.
Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

:435: I've run mine in sport 99% of the time. On my recent 3000 mile trip I planned to use touring to save fuel while droning on the highway but my my MPG was 45 so why bother?

I use sport all the time as I like the quick response of the throttle. I think that is the only difference in it in touring, that is you don't have to turn the throttle as far to get out the power.

Ride from the dealer was in touring, just to be safe. It's been in sport, ever since. Even on the last 1km (1/2 mile) dirt road where I live, sport in 2nd gear is "quiet" enough.

Haven't ridden into Toronto yet, but when I do, I'm looking to try it in urban. Don't commute through heavy traffic, either, but it sure seems urban would be key.

I used to have it in Touring most of the time since I commute a lot with the bike but lately I have it most of the time in Sport. With some throttle control it's OK to negotiate through traffic and I like that it's much easier to blip the throttle for downshifting and that the power is right there when needed. I need to tweak the modes again and set the engine to high in Touring mode to have a good city setting with power on high but also with DTC and ABS a bit higher.
Like Dave G I increased DTC and ABS on Urban and use it when it's wet.
