Not a new topic but just revisting an old one . I have just returned from a short tour of some of the great Scottish routes - covered 1,600 miles in 5 days and the bike was terrific - the only thing is that , with over 6000 on the clock, I am still getting a false neutral when changing down from 6th to 5th (only that one) and it occurs about once in every 8 changes which is a pain when touring with lots of gear changes

I just wondered whether others were still seeing that problem or did anybody get it resolved with their dealer ?

    I had the same problem but it just went away


     it never happens now.

    It's like an Italian woman beautifully but a bit quirky hey I should get a job with Ducati! :164:

    I had a few false neutrals early on (as well as difficulty finding the actual neutral) but it went away around the time of first service and virtually never happens now.

    Never really had a problem with false neutrals apart from when I'm not paying attention and am not as positive with the lever (lazy in other words). I thought false neutrals were a problem going up the box, coming down the box sounds a bit more unusual  :084:
    Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

    It seems to be a bit longer stroke coming down from 6 to 5.
    When I swapped the footrest rubbers around it improved both the gear change and rear brake access.

    Thanks all for your responses  - looks like I may be the only one to have the issue remaining after the running-in period . Definitely not a foot position/pressure thing  I can assure you . Eventually  tried a "controlled experiment" going along the motorway constantly changing up and down between 5th and sixth - I was starting to think it might actually be me until the 8th change (which is the average fail rate I worked out on my tour) when is went into the false neutral (lever def hit a positive end to its travel and it would not have been possible to move it further ) .So I think its in to the dealer to sort out when I get the chance while it is still under warranty  . Will keep the forum updated on what they say

    65 years old and riding for years - so I think it's a Ducati problem

    Had a false neutral from 6 to 5  once, but would put it down to user error. Getting false neutral between 1 and 2 occassionally but again user error being lazy as  there is more travel from 1 to 2. Incidentally never had problems getting into neutral.
    We accept too much from from dealers saying "well thats how it is" keep on haranguing them!

    may be ask the dealer to adjust the clutch lever that's what I did and it worked

    That's a fair point Murf, I've adjusted my cable once. It's easy to do at the handlebar and the adjustment goes in clicks so you can count how far you move it and put it back if you need to.

    My problem was getting the bike into first at a standstill. 2 or 3 clicks on the adjuster made all the difference  :047:
