    Hi guys,
As I only use the MTS950 for tarmac roads, and pilot road 5 is now available for our rims size, I'm really ready to go on them, any of you has these tires??? If yes, what do you think of them, GRIP, MILAGE, SUN, RAIN, etc. ;)

Yep, brilliant tyre, although I've not tried them on the 950.

Note that the word "pilot" has now been dropped, they are called just Michelin "Road 5" now  :038:

No 170/60 R17 Road 5 available in the US. Do they have it in the UK or are you going with the 180?

The Michelin Road 5 are not available for our sizes unless you select the Trail version in the Michelin range.

It will be interesting to see what the reviews are like on this type of bike. It may have quicker turn in feel being more road focused.

They are £247 for a pair plus fitting so I may be tempted next year when mine are due to be changed

I've done the first 100 miles on the new road 5 tyres and they behave well. Compared to the original Pirellis the have a more solid feel but you have to push the bike more into the corners. Once you have got your line in the corner they follow that line beautifully. Its the Michelin raod 5 trail in these sizes wich is a road based version with a lot of rubber on the edges.

Do you have a status update for the Road 5?  How many miles, and have you used it on dirt, gravel, etc?

    Hi,
Firts this is a road tire only... you can put them on the dirt but only if you don't have another way.

    OK,
    for what has been said.

I went for it, on the front put a pilot road 5 in the back a pilot power 2ct.

The front tire is a little lazy to lean compared to the scorpions, but has soon it beds in... we are looking to a grip tire.

In the overall this pack is nice on the road, the oldie pilot power 2ct is excellent, great grip, until near the end he tends to be a bit slippery on the center and on the acceleration path, the corner sides still hold the grip for the more lean corners.

So, after 10k, the road 5 is still going probably more 5k (15k in overall) and the high performance pilot power 2ct dies on the 10k mark (not bad for a performance cheap tire) and I hit hard on the throttle.

So at the moment I have a road 5 with 10k on the front and a new road 5 on the back, excellent grip, notice that these tires are 2ct and slick on the sides, so maximum confidence on leaning the bike. Recommend (not the best pattern tire, but is what it is as Michelin bets on the rain performance as well)

I had the same combination first time. Now i have the road 5 on the back aswell and they are vere satisfying. Not as quick steering compared to the scorpions but much more stable and once you have the correct cornerline they follow it beautifully. They give good grip on wet and dry roads. Front has done now 8000kms and rear 2500km and they both look good. Not done offroad with those tires as i dont do offroad riding with the Multi.
