    Halocam dash cam

So I got slowly rear ended the other day by a car who didn't see that I was stopped to enter a parking. Resulted in a gentle tipover on the left side for the bike, and nothing for me as I was on my feet holding the bike.

Good news is that the panniers protect very well and a crash bar would have probably been useless as it wouldn't have touched the ground. The pannier broke and needs to be replaced, as well as the plastic guard, the mirror and the clutch lever. Gonna cost 850 euros covered by the insurance.

Liabilities were clear this time, but it made me think of what would happen another time with let's say a bicycle crossing a red light or a driver not taking ownership of their mistake, so I fitted a dash cam from halocam:

    https://www.amazon.com/HaloCam-Motorcycle-Recording-Waterproof-Recorder/dp/B07D371DRF

I chose it because of the wide angle lenses and the wifi connection to see the video on my phone. It records front and back in loop automatically when turned on, and deletes the older videos when the card is full. I plugged it on the din docket under the seat which is powered with ignition, contrary to what the manual say (the USB socket seems limited to 1 amp which is not enough).  So I just forget about it now.

Videos are not as good as a gopro buy they're fine for their purpose. I'll post some photo this weekend.

Excellent! Thanks for posting this, Viobas. I keep thinking that I should fit something like this. Let us know how it performs. The reviews on Amazon rate it highly, for what it is.

Don't know how well the screenshot will come out but I got sideswiped by some dick changing lanes on the motorway last night - again  :013: caught it on my "Aldi special" £30 camera. It's not great especially in the dark but it's good enough for the beating it gets on the side of my helmet. No damage to the bike, I think the crash bars took the hit, I was so annoyed I didn't even notice more intent on giving the beardy dick wearing a bobble hat a piece of my mind  :008:

Anything more than two wheels is unnecessary.

I have tried lots of different cameras & most are not good enough quality picture so that you could a read a reg & the ones that do won’t work properly as a dash cam

    Even 1080p @120fps is pixelated

It's true that sometimes the plates are not clearly readable, but sometimes they are, and also I think the video would useful if the driver stops but contests what happened. You can just show them the video on the spot before  filing the papers.

Here's a few photo of the setup, I ran the cables under the right side panels, you can't really see more than the  cameras.
