Oxford Advanced Sports Grips

Fitted a pair of these yesterday. Fairly straight forward but it took me quite a while because I was very particular about finding the best control location and cable routing. I also decided to go belt and braces and fitted with a relay despite the Oxford 'battery saver' technology. Using a relay also means the grips retain the previous heat setting when returning to the bike.

They look really good quality and I'm pleased with the result. Only little 'extra' work I performed was on the clutch side. The Oxford grip is very slightly shorter than the original and simple fitting revealed a bit of a gap between the grip inner edge and the control block. To slide the control block along the handle bar towards the grip requires enlarging  the locating hole in the handle bars - easily enough done.

Recommend to anyone and at £50 a complete bargain compared to the Ducati offering.

I agree that they are a great job, although I have just wired them to the battery. I was interested in your advise about moving the cluster on the clutch side as I have a gap there so I may run a hole through the bar. What size of drill bit did you use?

There is an existing hole in the bars that locates the cluster. I just used my Dremmel to extend the hole a bit towards the handlebar end so the cluster could be slid along to narrow the gap.

Sorry - not very good at recording my work - so no photos. But don't be put off. It's all quite simple - just take your time and test fit things before committing.
You can install without an ignition controlled relay (and that makes installation easier) because the grips will turn themselves off a short time after detecting the ignition has been turned off. The only thing you lose is that when turned on again they don't 'remember' the previous heat setting.
