    SW Motec Crash Bars

It seems I may be in a non-Heed minority  :008:, but having tried Ibex crash bars in black which look great to my eyes, try as I might, they would NOT fit...

So, having had them on a previous bike I went for the SW Motec bars, as pictured below.  I like the fact that although mounted a little lower down, they still protrude enough to protect the tank fairing, while being as discreet as a crash bar can be...in black...of course.

Each to their own - the Heed bars were tempting but do look a bit Enduro for me (just too much of 'em on show), so with Ibex unfortunately discounted, I think the SW Motec bars are great.  Certainly well made, solid, without spoiing the look TOO much.  Oh and at least they DID fit fine....was beginning to think my Bike was crash damaged... :020:

Hope this may be of use to some folks considering crash bar options.

    Ibex bars for those interested:

Very nice Al, good choice! I had SW-Motec crash bars on my Honda for three riding seasons and had no problems with them whatsoever, I hope you have the same good luck.

Looks as though would fit without having to move the Ducati spotlights?

I asked sw-motech this question a while ago and they reckon it wouldn't fit with the spotlights.

Al. I quite like the look of the Ibex bars too. What was the fitting problem, where did you buy and was returning them ok?

ZiggyCol - I found I couldn't join the section that meets in front just below the radiator, or if I fitted that part first, one or the other side main mountings would not align.  I tried several different ways, but I couldn't make it work.  Could have been me missing something, or a peculiarity of my MTS950, but in the end they were returned, and accepted without problem.  I did send pictures and explain the issue, and they offered a full refund without question.  The supplier was Motea Gmbh.  I'd be interested to hear how you get on if you do go for a set - wishing you (almost..) every success..... :038:

    Cheers Al
Mmmmm . . . . I can't imagine it was a problem with your ability to install and its unlikely to be a peculiarity of your MTS. Most likely a deficiency in the bars themselves - perhaps an individual item variation.
I'll let you know if I ever decide to give it a go and how it turns out but I'm not sure I want to take the risk and endure the hassle if it doesn't work.

In the end my thoughts were similar, hence going for my second choice in SW Motec.  Shame though - I like the position and lack of pipework of the Ibex - I remain concerned that other options incl. SW Motec risk damaging the Rad in a heavy fall, but perhaps that may be the least of my worries in that scenario....I didn't have the Ibex bash plate fitted either (something I also plan to buy at some point), just the std Ducati plastic part, but I can't see that would make much difference.

I had looked at the Ibex bars plus bash plate, thought they looked good but now concerned if they don’t fit !
Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs but, did you try putting all attaching points loosely in place before tightening any specific point up first ?
    Cheers
