    Foot stand cut out switch.

I normally start the bike in neutral with the foot stand down to  warm up while I put my lid and gloves on.  Yesterday totally dead ! a bit miffed until I flicked up the stand and she fired up ( can I still refer to her as she ? )  I'm assuming that the cut out switch is sticking on.  It doesn't  appear to disconnect easily in order to give it a squirt of WD ..  Am a bit paranoid about engines cutting out since reading a article a few years back about an alarm system stalling a bike mid corner and killing the rider.. Anyone else any experience with this issue.?

I can't say anything like that happened to me and judging from the silence neither has anyone else. Just a thought though Lucan why not just spray the crap out of it while it's still mounted. I always tend to try the easiest solution first before making extra work for myself.  I hope you get it sorted out and please update us on how it went.

I had a faulty gear position sensor that was alternating very quickly between 1 and N, but mostly showing N.  The intermittent 1st gear position was enough to prevent starting with the side stand down.   Sensor was replaced under warranty to solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply and sound advice.....Have spoken to local dealer who told me that although there were occasional problems with early models a few years back concerning cut out switches on side stands which were sorted out under warranty. They have had no such experience with recent models, However if my problem should reoccur it will be replaced without issue. Can't say fairer than that can I... :002:
