    Warped discs?

So here I am in Norway [in the rain] and the front brakes  on my new 950S have started to judder when you give it medium pressure. At first I thought it was an ABS thing [it was in the rain after all] but now it is all the time.  The pads look ok from the outside as there is only 3k miles on them [I've been busy] and I can't visually see any warpage. Both discs and pads run cold and there is no grooving on the discs. Ideas folks?  oh and I have another thousand miles to get home! :187:

Sorry, can’t help, but have you tried contacting your dealer on this?

Hope you’ve had more sunshine than rain on your travels......Norway in the sun is beautiful.

    All the best getting home.

Thanks, I'll take things easy, stick to the motorways. I've had enough of curvy roads for this year, brilliant though they are. Brakes still work and the engine braking is great after riding a triple. Unfortunately its a holiday weekend otherwise I would visit the dealer in Oslo. Maybe try Copenhagen next week.

Have you tried spraying a can of brake cleaner?

Good point. No I haven't but it's worth a try if I can get some. It started to happen in torrential rain so it could be it has just picked up dirt. I read on another forum that the floating disc arrangement could be the problem but it seems that warped discs are not unknown on Multistradas. I will take it to the main dealer in Copenhagen as everything is shut here and I will be jumping on a ferry soon.

Is it a judder sensation you feel in the bike or is it localised to only the front lever? I had this on an old CBR 600F and my warped disc was a very noticeable pulsation in the front brake lever.

They will be warped by the sounds of things. Mine had that problem and I noticed it when doing light braking up to traffic.
They were changed under warranty in April this year following reporting it on my service mid March.
Credit to my dealer to do this just before the 2 yr warranty ran out.

Not sure why this happens? 🤔

Thanks Dave, I've had another look and they are clean enough and the pads seem ok. No obvious cracks, or wear and everything looks tight. I have exactly the same as you symptoms as you. Giving the brake a real handfull reduces the judder but you can't ride like that off the track! Using the engine, back brake and front together should get me home. :305: As the bike is only 5 weeks old the dealers should fix it.

Had similar on mine but dealer checked discs and couldn’t measure a warp !
Just recently if I gently pull on the front break when manoeuvring and turning right at slow speed my front break give a ‘moan’. Have you experienced this ?
Going to raise this at 18k service in a weeks time and will post outcome.

Hey, I’m glad I’m not the only one; currently on my third replacement, which seems to be holding up fine after eight months.
