Hi Ben, I did 39.000km on my 950 17 and know 12.000 at the V2S and fully agree with you except for the saddle. I think the new one let you move your body more freely to the front and back, helping on long rides.

The foam was done last week and now the custom cover has been fitted as well.

I am looking for a new ride and one of the options discovered locally yesterday is the 2021 Multistrada 950 S. I am also considering the 2022+ V2 S. One nice advantage of these bikes is it would be about 90# lighter, as well as offer me the ability to flat foot at a stop.

I would be switching from a 2016 BWM GSA. This bike is setup the way I want with multiple updates, the biggest being Tractive suspension (stock started to leak) set up for me (5'11", 250#), RDL seat, SW-Motech shifter extension, shift/brake levers to bring them closer to the grips, and sturdy handguards.

I am basically a touring style rider, with 'off-road' simply being gravel roads to/from campgrounds. I do camp off my bike several times a year with normally one big trip. A weekend ride would typically be in the 400 mile range. Last fall I put 3800+ miles on in a trip from Mpls, MN to Utah and Colorado, camping along the way.

How would the Multistrada compare to my existing ride? Would the mentioned upgrades be necessary on the Ducati? How is the Ducati on 400+ mile days?

Any insight provided would be appreciated!

Last week I picked up my new 2024 Thrilling Black Multistrada V2S, that replaced my 2017 Multistrada 950. By now I have driven 400 km's.
First thing I noticed was the quality of the body work and painting, the 950 was good, but this is really excellent.
The dash is far better and finally separate buttons for the menu and the pinkers, so no more accidental getting in the menu after you made a turn and wanted to switch off. I also like the backlight of the buttons and the mirrors are better adjustable.
Second is the handling, cornering is so much lighter and smoother, the whole bike feels lighter, specially in turning and twisting.
Best part is the new gearbox, no problem getting in Neutral at a traffic light or at a stop, it's smooth and light.
The suspension is so good, the Skyhook system, that you forget about it, it feels so natural, another big improvement over the 950.
I am not completely sure about the saddle, it is OK, but initially did not gave me the stable riding position of the 950, time will tell.
As a whole I found it a big improvement, bear in mind that I had one of the first 950's and we are now 7 years later.
Working that out now. Going offshore to save cost but thatíll add time. Will check back.

FYI, had a test piece 3D printed and dimensions work.

Iím having a pin fabricated to fit the OEM skid plate w the Heed bars. If anyone is interested in ordering as well, please let me know.
